But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
So often, I will hear a believer state that they are trying to be more patient, loving, kind, or have more self-control and sometimes, I even say it myself. Then I remember these words of Paul in Galatians. Just like our salvation in Christ is not of our works, neither is the outpouring of godly character.
Left to our natural flesh, Paul describes the obvious result: sexual immorality, hatred, jealousy, envy and the like. The remedy for this is to live by the Spirit so we will not give into the desires of our flesh.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control is the fruit of the Spirit.
Not the fruit of our self.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
