The Lord knows our vulnerabilities and by the Holy Spirit alerts us in advance to our need to guard those areas of our life. Such was the case with the church in the city of Ephesus. As Paul concluded his letter to them in AD 61 he was inspired by the Spirit to exhort them to be faithful in love.

. . . and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness.  May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:23-24 NLT

How important this exhortation was! In AD 95 the Lord instructed John, the apostle, to write to the church in Ephesus,

You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works that you did at first . . .

Revelation 2:4-5 NLT

Let us honor the protective guidance of the Holy Spirit.
