Spiritual Direction

What is Spiritual Direction?

Christian Spiritual Direction, recognized by the Church down through the ages, is a form of Christian soul care focused around prayer-filled conversation, directed toward deepening intimacy with God (John 17:22-23). As a companion, the spiritual director helps you connect, listen, and discern the presence, leading, and voice of God. You learn to respond to God's healing, creative invitations, and interact freely concerning your heartfelt experiences as practical life issues arise (Matthew 19:16-30).

Spiritual Direction sits squarely within Christian Spiritual Formation practices that facilitate meeting God in a transformative way (Galatians 4:19; II Corinthians 3:18). This friend to discipleship weaves with prayer (interaction with God) and Scripture, serving to shape Christ-like character and heart to receive the fullness of God's love (Ephesians 3:19).

Encounter God

God is in hot pursuit of you with his love. From the beginning, God has always desired a love relationship with humanity, and specifically with you. He takes delight and wants all of us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving through Jesus Christ (I John 3:1). Indeed God's mercy and love pursue you all the days of your life (Psalm 23:6).

Through the practice of Spiritual Direction, we pause to look beneath the surface of your life, into the soul where God dwells. We notice how God joins with you in your circumstances, allowing love relationship to expand. In that sacred meeting space, God encounters you and your yearning desires (Isaiah 55:1-3).

Can you see God calling and courting you in your life challenges as his liberating story unfolds?
